Mission:Brain Global Neurosurgery Hackathon 3rd Place Winners ☆ ☆ ☆

EMERGE Founder, Caleigh Roach and EMERGE Board Members, Matthew Kis and Justin Lange recently competed in the Harvard University Mission:Brain Global Hackathon and placed 3rd out of over 75 teams! Wow!

They utilized machine learning code to determine the geographic areas within Sierra Leone that had the largest average distances to health care facilities. This allowed them to quantitatively analyze health accessibility and identify significant resource deserts. Then, they developed a new machine-learning algorithm to improve the triage and treatment of spinal compression injury patients within Sierra Leone.

EMERGE Founder, Caleigh Roach and EMERGE Board Members, Matthew and Justin along with Chapter Treasurer Anthony have formally initiated an EMERGE medical school chapter.

They recently participated in the 2024 Student Organization fair and were welcomed by interest and excitement from the Class of 2028.
